Limmud Ukraine Brings Jewish Community Together for the Second Time

“An Island of Normalcy During Turbulent Times”

Limmud FSU returned to Uzhhorod, Ukraine, on November 1-3, 2024, for its second event this year, bringing together 100 young Ukrainian Jews for a weekend of Jewish learning and cultural enrichment. This gathering at the Zolota Gora Resort followed the successful May conference, marking a renewed commitment to supporting the Jewish community amidst the ongoing war.

Uzhhorod, a peaceful city in western Ukraine, remains untouched by conflict, providing a safe space for attendees to reconnect with Jewish heritage and each other. The event featured diverse sessions, ranging from Jewish history to contemporary topics, offering a much-needed reprieve from the challenges of daily life during wartime.

“Limmud FSU is a beacon of hope and resilience, showing that Jewish life and learning continue even in the darkest times,” said Chaim Chesler, Limmud FSU Founder.

The November event demonstrated the unwavering spirit of Ukraine’s Jewish community, underscoring the importance of cultural continuity and mutual support.

Limmud FSU was founded in 2006, and is led by its Chair, Matthew Bronfman, and President, Aaron G. Frenkel.
