FIRST PRESENTATION OF THE LIMMUD FSU EUROPE PROJECT IN LONDON
A cocktail reception and presentation of the Limmud FSU Europe project for the Russian-speaking Jewish community took place in London yesterday, September 15 . The reception was sponsored by Bank Leumi (UK)
About 40 representatives of business, arts and Mass media guests receive d a first-hand information about the history of Limmud and the plans of the first Limmud Russian-language conference in Europe. The speakers included the Israeli Ambassador to the UK, Mark Regev, and Matthew Bronfman, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Chairman of Limmud FSU International Steering Committee.
Ambassador Regev spoked about an phenomena of Limmud FSU reaching out to unaffiliated Russian speaking Jewry and wished a success to a new cross border initiative Limmud FSU Europe.
Bronfman explained to the audience why Limmud FSU became an important part of his life. “The ideas and the spirit of Limmud are important for Jewish communities around the world and I am very pleased that in the UK, where 35 years ago was the world’s first Limmud took place, now the first Russian European Limmud will take place as well”- said Bronfman.
Limmud FSU Europe, the first ever cross continental Limmud will be held in Windsor, England in February 3-5 2017. Above 500 hundred participants are expected, most of them from the EU countries, but also Russia, Ukraine and Israel.
Am organising committee of 50 people from 12 different European countries are currently working on the programme and logistics of the event.
