25 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between Russia and Israel
A meeting took place today between the leadership of Limmud FSU (former Soviet Union) and Rabbi Berl Lazar, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, in his office in Moscow.
Present were Chaim Chesler, founder of Limmud FSU, Roman Kogan, Chief Executive Officer and the heads of Limmud FSU Moscow: Michael Libkin, Alexander Piyatagorsky, and the project director, Anna Adamskaya. The meeting took place within the framwork of the current visit to Russia of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to mark 25 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between Russia and Israel.
The rabbi expressed his deep appreciation of the work of Limmud FSU, especially in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersberg, Kazan) and wherever there are Russian-speaking Jewish populations. He sees Chabad Russia as a full partner with Limmud FSU in strengthening Jewish culture and identity. The leadership, for its part, extended an invitation to the rabbi to participate in and address all Limmud events in Russia.
Tomorrow the Limmud leadership will be meeting with Prime-Minister Netanyahu during his visit to Moscow.
