KAZAN IS ON LIMMUD FSU MAP!
Kazan and Volga region cities are getting ready for “Limmud Volga-Ural” – the first Limmud Conference in the region. Organisers planing to host participants from Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Ufa, Perm, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara, Saratov, Naberezhniye Chelny and Kazan itself. At the moment the project is dealing with typical ‘teething troubles’, but the organising committee formed for this specific event – is an organic goal-oriented team of professionals which with the help of Limmud FSU will lead the project to great results.
Kazan is a very interesting city, the capital of the Muslim republic of Tatarstan in Central Russia. In the early nineties inter-ethnic atmosphere there was quite tense, Tatarstan has been called the “second Chechnya”. However, the leaders and local people of the Republic managed to avoid sharp stones to build a tolerant and even friendly community of people with different nationalities and confessions. “Limmud Volga-Ural ” will also address the issue of tolerance – already planned sessions of political and religious leaders representing different, sometimes even mutually exclusive views. The creative component of Limmud is also full of “tolerance” surprises.
“Limmud Volga-Ural ” will take place in Kazan, Russia on September, 4-6. We will be glad to see you there!
