Daughter of novelist Amos Oz, unveils memorial plaque in Rivne, Ukraine at the childhood home of her grandmother, whose life plays prominently in Oz’s novel ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness.’

Fania Oz-Salzberger, daughter of novelist Amos Oz, unveiled a memorial plaque in Rivne, Ukraine on Monday at the childhood home of her grandmother, whose life plays prominently in Oz’s novel ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness.’

The novel chronicles Oz’s life and family roots in Eastern Europe. Much of it takes place in Rivne. An upcoming film adaptation will star Natalie Portman.

The ceremony was attended by Rivne Mayor Volodymyr Khomko and Chaim Chesler, who founded Limmud FSU, the organization that initiated the plaque.
