One more Shabbat with Limmud FSU
This past Shabbat I had the privilege of spending time with an amazing array of young, energetic Jews. The venue was the popular colony of exquisite cottages , nestled in an afforested area of Connecticut, known as the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center.
The purpose for this conclave was to plan for the next Limmud FSU conference. It was exciting to be able to participate once again in a cause, in which I so strongly believe, namely building relationships amongst Jews.
The energy at the meeting was nothing short of electrifying. Ideas flowed from every corner. The process of bonding amongst the participants was heartwarming. The youngest Limmudnicks included three month old Yasha and ten month old Goldie. The oldest one was yours truly, me.
One might wonder what do a group of happy go lucky young Jews do after Havdalah, the ceremonial end to Shabbat?Of course, someone brings out his guitar, and the rest of us sing, even those with tin ears.
Take all of the above and place it against the backdrop of the most beautiful nature of Connecticut, and what you have is the serene atmosphere for this weekend. Next time, it is my hope that we could incorporate some Jewish content such as a Devar Torah, that would take place after Kiddush.
See you then, Shalom!
