A meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Limmud FSU (Former Soviet Union) Conference, Moldova, took place in the capital, Chişinău (Kishinev,) this week. This will be the second Limmud conference in Moldova and it will take place in May 2014. The first, held in 2012, was an overwhelming success, capturing the hearts of the Jews in Moldova.
This leading Jewish educational and cultural event will be held in collaboration with all the Jewish organizations of Moldova. The event will be planned and implemented by a team of local volunteers, activists and representatives of the various organizations. We anticipate that this conference will attract not only the previous participants, but also their relations and friends, and we also expect newcomers who have not participated in Limmud FSU activities up until now.
The meeting was initiated by Galina Rybnikova, Limmud FSU Project Manager in Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus together with Marina Lekartseva, representing the Jewish community of Moldova.
Since volunteering is the core principle of Limmud, every member of the Organizing Committee will be contributing to the development and promotion of the conference without remuneration. Those who have attended a Limmud event become a committed part of it and are eager to contribute their time and energy.
The friendly atmosphere and positive group dynamics have resulted in a work plan for the coming event, and the Organizing Committee members are divided into subcommittees, each responsible for various aspects of the Conference, such as public relations, logistics and programming, to name a few.
The Conference will take place from May 23-25, 2014 at the Institute of Labor in Chişinău.
Conference registration begins on 10 March, 2014. The fees are as follows:
Regular participants – 450 MDL (Moldovan Leu)
Volunteers and presenters – 225 MDL
Children from three to 12 years – 225 MDL
Children under three years old – free of charge
We cordially invite everyone who would like to help to join us in carrying this unique project. Your energy, time and initiative would be very welcome. Those who wish to support the Conference, either financially or in kind, by providing educational materials and services needed for the Conference, will be acknowledged in the Conference handbook and materials.
Good luck to all of us at Limmud FSU Moldova,2014, and stay tuned!
