Limmud FSU will hold its next confab in the Ukrainian city of Vinnitsa this weekend, a site chosen for its rich Jewish history and symbolism. The Jewish educational outfit said at least 300 participants are expected to take part in the event including MKs Yossi Peled and Alex Miller.
It said the decision to hold the Jewish conference in the Ukrainian city, which was once the site of Adolf Hitler’s most eastern command during World War II, had a symbolic significance. “Limmud FSU has chosen the town of Vinnitsa as living evidence that Jewish life, culture, education and national identity is alive and thriving even after such horrors,” it said.
